Do Dreams Come True? Yes they do!
I work at a non profit organization called “The Wilkie House” , which is an after school program for children. While helping prepare for snack time one of the young students ask a very beautiful and thought provoking question. She asked “how do you make your dreams come true?” When the young student asked this question I was very much so thrown off guard. In response I simply said “you just have to work hard, believe, stay consistent, discipline, and stay positive and all your dreams will come true.” But, after thinking about that question long after I had been asked, I began to ask myself how exactly do you guarantee that your dreams will come true?
Many people will simply say things like “nothing in life is guaranteed” but I beg to differ. One of my favorite sayings is from powerful poem called “Invictus” by William Ernest Henley. The last two lines of this poem say, “I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul”. I live by these lines, they are basically saying you decide exactly what will happen in your life by the choices you make. Nobody is in charge of your fate in this world except for you. Nobody is in charge of your soul except for your. That is how you can guarantee if your dreams will come true or not. It is all up to you, you are in control of it all, yes the higher powers that be lead you but it is up to you to listen and follow.
Do the Work
Along with William Ernest Henley’s poem “Invictus”, there is a very simple yet well spoken video of Oprah Winfrey speaking about how to make things happen in your life. Ultimately in the video someone asked her, “How do you find the balance between making things happen and letting things happen?” Her answer really touched my soul. To sum up what she said, “do the work, you get ready for the opportunity to step in and then you let go. You release all attachment to the outcome because you know you’ve done all you can do, you surrender all to the powers that be. If it is for you it will come. Many times in life we all have these ideas, desires, and dreams on how our life is suppose to be, but there aren’t many people who are willing to do the work necessary for those things to happen.
Stardust is a magical quality or feeling, and this magical feeling happens when you do the work and find the entire universe conspiring for your greatest good.
